Hello 😉 Let us introduce ourselves to you!
We are the Maurer family! Matt and Lisa, along with our children, Adam, Jacob, Megan, Emily, Sarah, Lucas and Caleb, established The Shake Shak on July 7, 2007! The idea Matt and I had in mind was twofold. First thing was to keep our children busy. Second thing was to give them firsthand experience of owning/operating their own business. The kids learned everything from managing inventory, customer service, employee management, financial management and so many other things!
Serving REAL ice cream was first and foremost on the “must have” list for us. We did not want to settle for a less than perfect tasting ice cream experience for our customers. We know that this is what sets The Shake Shak apart from all of the rest! The Shake Shak ice cream is REAL, rich, tasteful and creamy!
We serve Hershey’s Premium Hand-Scooped ice cream and frozen yogurt. 16+ flavors are available every day in addition to weekly special flavors! Our soft serve menu includes over 36 single flavors which can be combined to create endless flavors! We can also mix in any of your favorite toppings! Stop by and be creative! We love to try new combinations and it’s fun to see what our customers come up with!
Somewhere along the way, we expanded, added another building and now have live bait, minnows, fatheads, ice and firewood in our inventory. There are great fishing spots around here! If you see one of the Maurers, they may point you to a good one! I know any one of them could tell you a fishing story or two…or three!!
We are located in the heart of “America’s County,” Somerset County, PA! You will find us along the beautiful, historical Old Lincoln Highway, also known as Rt 30. We are very close to the Flight 93 Memorial and The Nine Miners Rescue Site and have personal connections to each of these places. We are surrounded by breathtaking landscape, rolling hills, rich forests, natural wildlife, fishing, skiing, biking, hiking, camping, shooting sports, golfing, kayaking and so much more!
Our family has grown since 2007. We now have 14 grandchildren! We all love this little place and are proud to share what we have and what we have learned with everybody that stops in to be refreshed!
